The Naijaborn founders are making a few interesting moves into the West African technology market. The team which includes Francis Oghuma from Nigeria and Mambe Nanje Churchill from Cameroon made a splash with their Nigerian start-up Naijaborn. Naijaborn has a techie cult following and support for being custom coded and featuring a unique design and approach to social networking.
The Naijaborn team are trying to recreate their success in Cameroon with Camerborn. The main difference betwen Naijaborn and Camerborn is the name and community the start-ups aim for. The design and code which power the social networks to the best of my knowledge by considering the design seem similar.
The difference is that Camerborn has been promoted for about a few months now, and only was launched.
The team also have sent a few Tweets concerning Camerborn, most notably
- Show Ya Sef ! Its a movement….watch out for the official press release….@mambenanje@qubestreet are the lead co-founders !10:29 PM Oct 18th, 2009 via web
- The Show ya sef movement is hitting the french speaking african country ” cameroon” are you ready for it?10:24 PM Oct 6th, 2009 via web
- “camerborn.com bientot chez vous! show ya sef!”
It will be worth following to record the difference in marketing and approach employed to win over the Cameroonian web market.
