Banker Magazine recently named Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor Central Bank Governor of the Year for both the African continent and the entire world. Banker Magazine Editor, Brian Capley says that Sanusi’s selection was a unanimous one and that few candidate names historically generate a unanimous consensus on judging panels.
Sanusi was praised for salvaging Nigeria’s banking sector and putting Nigeria’s capital markets back on the map for global investors.
Late last year, Mr. Lamido famously had a face off with members of the Nigerian House of Assembly where he asserted that total Federal Government Overhead was over N500 billion and the total Overhead of the National Assembly was about N136.2 billion. When asked to retract his statement, he refused to back down, an act that won the heart of Nigerians.
Congrats Mr. Sanusi!
