President Goodluck Jonathan hinted yesterday that his administration may extend the current voter registration period to accommodate for some of the problems encountered in the current registration exercise. According to him, the government is determined to ensure that every eligible voter is registered.
“The machines are slow in some cases. I believe that the training too may not be enough. I think the youth corpers were not properly trained. I believe we will get through these challenges. We will not stop until all eligible voters have registered. The complaints by Nigerians show that so many are interested in registering” he said.
Many groups have clamored for an extension given that some Nigerian citizens have been unable to register with the Direct Data capture machines put in place.
