The Mrs. Club, a Nigerian Chick lit published in 2008 to rave reviews has recently launched a video trailer to accompany the book. (Watch it below)! Hmm…perhaps a TV series or movie is in the works…?
(If by any slight chance, you are a Nigerian female and you haven’t read the book, the Mrs. Club tells the story of three women; Titi, Amaka and Mina chronicling their struggles with every day life, their pasts and the men in their lives. Set in the United States, the book explores themes such as self discovery and acceptance using a refreshingly modern Nigerian humor that few books since its debut have been able to match). It is an absolute joy to read and is available for sale on Amazon here.
The book’s overarching premise is summed up in the statement below…
“You see in the African community, age is definitely not on a woman’s side. When you are about 22, you are put in the front window and are marked for sale. Then when you are about 26, they mark you 50% off, 75% off when you are 28 and then when you are 30, the sign is changed to say:”ALL GOODS MUST GO!”
