Inspiring video on Nyimbi Odero and others who coded a solution for Nigeria’s voter registration database

(CP-Africa) – Al Jazeera English has an inspiring video that features Nyimbi Odero, the man who codedNigeria’s voter registration database. A former Google employee, Nyimbi’s work saved Nigeria about $100 million by developing the software at home.
The video also features the CEO of Zinox Computers. (Zinox manufactured the computers that took in the voters registration data). Though this year’s voter registration process was marred by technology hiccups in some areas, we applaud Nigeria’s effort at developing the technology locally.
“For the first time, we are not importing, buying or using skills from outside of our borders,” Odero told Al-Jazeera, “Africans are finding African problems, building solutions, deploying and supporting them”.
Watch the video below and share the inspiration.
