The first of the 2011 Nigerian Elections which had been earlier postponed finally held on the 9th April, 2011. The Election was anticipated with mixed feelings, experiences and expectations as a result of the recent spate of violence and perceived incompetence by the Electoral Body (INEC). Elections were postponed in 15 senatorial districts and 48 federal constituencies which will be held on the 26th of April. Results have started pouring in as INEC kept their word that results will be announced at Polling units and collation centres and that all results will be available within 48 hours.

From reports from Citizen reporters on the field, it seems the PDP slots in the house has been considerably overtaken by the opposition.

    We have always been aware. The only challenge has been that they have been stealing our votes. This is the first timer we will experience having a selfless leader at the helm of affairs: a man who does not care whether he loses the election. His only focus was credibility.

    The recently-released National Assembly election results have pointed to one basic fact – that although the PDP lost some grounds to some parties, yet it is still Nigeria's most dominant party with its national geographical spread cutting across linguistic and religious group. It is a matter of intellectual laziness that Nigerians have not seen yet that it is the only political party with at least one quarter of all the votes cast in up to 30 states of the Federation. We do not need a soothsayer to start congratulating President Goodluck Jonathan well in advance of the Saturday Presidential primaries all things being equal. Goodluck to Jonathan. Goddluck to Nigeria.

    It's my joy that Goodluck was able to delivered his promise. Even though he can not achieve more than this(which is not possible), i think he has tried enough to be commended. The senatorial election conducted on Saturday was free and fair but more effort is still required in the area of security, especially in the typical remote areas that are not opened to motor-able road.

    Our politicians are fond of rejecting election's result. They forgot to realize that election is a game of two or more people vying for one position which, whether we like it or not, there must be a loser.

    Goodluck is a Hypocrite, I don't trust him, he is a cheat and blowsy. The best thing we should do is to fight against him when he wins like how the cote d'avoire did . And that is what we are going to do. For the igbos they are hypocrites there vote not because they need change but because of his stinky money he gave to them.
