Phone manufacturer, Samsung recently announced the launch of its Blackberry Messenger like service, ChatOn. The application which is available on Android, Bada, BlackBerry & iOS allows users to create groups to quickly send and receive group text messages. ChatOn is poised to compete directly with services such as Research in Motion’s BBM, Apple’s iMessage, Google’s Huddle, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, GroupMe amongst others.
BBM has been all the rage in many countries in Africa especially among the youth segment. Its convenience, user friendliness as well as the fact that it is free made it a hit for young people looking to communicate constantly for free.
Samsung hopes that ChatOn will appeal to users the way the BBM currently does. Check out a video of ChatOn released by Samsung below. Do you think ChatOn will catch on?
