As part of an effort to curb the challenges of digital marketing in Nigeria, Flying Antlers today launched Adplacers.com, an Advertising Placement and Management platform. This is to allow individuals, Ad agencies, and corporate brands place and monitor their ad campaigns on leading websites such as Google, FaceBook, BBC, Twitter and other global websites from one platform. In addition, the platform also provides customized local display of ads for publishers to target the right audience.
During the formal launch event that had some advertisers and publishers in attendance, the organizers announced the introduction of its Video Ad Product, which is a new addition to the services they provide. According to Flying Antlers team, the introduction of video ad alongside the normal ad banner of various sizes is set to be revolutionary digital marketing in Nigeria and other African countries.
The video ad will give advertisers a platform to combine audio-visual element of Radio and Television advert with online/digital marketing. The product is also integrated on the different selected social network sites, which allows the target audience save and/or share the video link with their friends online. “The video ad is not the normal buffering or streaming videos… it is not heavy…some banner ads are heavier.” Said Jacob Ajayi, the COO of AdPlacers.com, during a visual demonstration of how the new product works. “It engages users because it is interactive but it targets people with purchasing prowess.” He added.
A young publisher, Mr. Segun Folawoye of Visionintes Magazine who attended the launch event, during an interview with CP-Africa said, “It is a welcome development. I’m impressed with the new dimension that they are bringing into the system like playing video ad that does not have to buffer and it increases the reach of participation website. People who play video stay longer on a website. I also appreciate the fact that it allows advertisers to target local users…meeting targets please advert publishers and the intermediary organization…it is really innovative.”
In the past, some of the challenges of digital marketing that local publishers are faced with includes difficulty in getting advert on their platform, payment hurdles etc. However, with AdPlacers.com publishers are exposed to different streams of ad with opportunity of low minimum layout, easy payment options- cheque, cash or Bank transfer etc. “This is actually what Nigerians have been waiting for a long time. It is nice we’re actually getting it. We hope they are for good and have come to stay. We will actually give them our best.” said Ms Antonia Orji, Web developer, Swaggzz.com.
The advent of Information and Computing Technology (ICT) has continued to open doors of opportunities to about 43million Nigerians on the Internet. However, different challenges such as the inability of individuals and organizations to keep up, manage, and measure the effective use of various platforms to meet their business objectives has continually limited them.
However, the innovative Advertising Placement and Management platform created on AdPlacers.com is set to provide solutions that will enable advertisers manage multiple platforms on one portal, leading to other selected publishing websites; allow room for easy payment without the hurdles of online payments; provide monitoring and control panel; provide exclusive ad placement access to local websites such as nairaland.com, as well as other networks and online forums; help advertisers with contextual targeting to prevent blind marketing; and help analyse their digital marketing report to understand their online impressions and reach.
Aside web-based advert placement and management, the platform also provide other services including Mobile Advertisement. “Based on current research, Mobile ad will overtake web ad by 2015… we provide interactive mobile solutions for brands.” Said Mr. Ajayi Jacobs of AdPlacers.com. While responding to the presentation, another publisher, Mr. Wale Olayanju, Editor and admin of Channel801.com said, “I think this is a good initiative because people like us publishers have been having problem with Google adsense and we feel there should be an alternative- a Nigerian or African Alternative. I think this looks like what we have been waiting for, I just hope they are able to solve the challenges we have been facing…it is my prayer that now that they have come, they will stay so that we can enjoy them and they can enjoy us…”
