CP-Africa’s Tech Lead Writer @tefomohapi recently attended this year’s Mobile Web in Africa 2011 conference in Johannesburg.
In case you missed it, check out some of the insights he put together from the conference speeches.
The insight that jumped out to me most was the statistic shared by MXit’s C.E.O., Alan Knott Craig, Jnr.
According to him:
Alan Knott-Craig Jr
CEO – Mxit
MXit is adding 50,000 users per day compared to Facebook ading 100,000 users per month in Africa. I don’t know where these people are coming from!
The MXit phenomenon is nothing short of outstanding and I think it is an African startup story that is not quite shared as much as it should be globally.
Consider this stat on MXit that we had earlier shared this year:
With about 10 million or more active unique users, the network easily trumps Facebook’s 3.9 million users in South Africa.
