To grab a bigger slice of Africa’s aviation market and expand its market in Nigeria and West Africa, RwandAir recently launched its direct flight from Kigali, Rwanda to Lagos, Nigeria.
The airline chose Lagos as its 13th destination due to the enormous opportunity that abound in the country as well as the fact that Lagos is enriched with bustling commercial activities.
In addition, the initiative to establish a direct flight from Kigali to Lagos was borne out of the frustration often experienced traveling through African countries before reaching the appointed destination.
The entry of RwandAir will boost business between the two countries, as Nigeria business community will use the opportunity to tap into the regional market while using Rwanda as the hub.
“Lagos as a commercial center of West Africa definitely can make a difference to the economy of Rwanda due to the fact that Rwandans will be exporting their products to Nigeria and vise versa, which will boost the generation of the country’s economy”, CEO of RwandAir, John Mirenge said.
The airline plans to bed more direct flights to other Africa countries and beyond while Oando Plc plans to fuel the airline for its operation in Nigeria.
Rwanda was ranked as one of the most favorable place to in Doing Business 2012.
