Nigerian Government to invest about N1 billion in creating ICT incubators
1The Nigerian Government is set to invest up to N1 billion in the creation of incubation centers that would develop and churn out the next generation of Nigerian ICT entrepreneurs. This was revealed by the Nigerian Minister for Information and Communications technology, Ms. Omobola Johnson at an ICT empowerment workshop for Nigerian youths organized by the Jim Ovia Foundation this past Monday. According to the Minister, the incubators would help spur the development of commercial software in the industry.
The Minister also noted that the government would be looking to partner with the private sector to invest in the ICT sector through the institution of an IT innovation fund.
According to her,
“We are investing in them because this local entrepreneurs may not have collaterals to pay up their loans,” she said.
