To achieve desired objectives in educating customers on the new banking reform- cashless policy- the Centeral Bank of Nigeria(CBN) has decided to increase the level of awareness towards the banking policy.
This is to further prepare consumers towards the final deadline of March 30th when the service charges/fees will become effective.
Although, the cashless policy has commenced in Lagos since the first day of the year, the apex bank deems it fit to create more awareness to remit the set back envisaged and to give people time to migrate to the electronic infrastructures in place.
45% of Nigeria business operates in the informal sector.
The new campaign which will begin this week will tackle challenges that has been identified in the first phase.
The CBN had earlier explained that the sucess of the cashless policy will launch Nigeria into one of the largest economies in the world by 2020.
The cashless policy will reduce the cost of banking service and drive financial inclusion by providing more efficient transaction options.
