Power generation in Nigeria has increased by over 40% says Power Minister, Professor Barth Nnaji

Power generation in Nigeria has increased by over 40% since President Goodluck Jonathan was elected in May, 2011.

This is a tremendous achievement for the president and the government to have improved power supply that way.

“That is why you see people all over the country saying there is availability of power and that they are receiving power now better than before,’’ he said.

The Power Minister said that the nation now generates about 4,400 MW. The Minister also recently assured Nigerians that power supply will hit about 9,000MW by December this year if all goes well. He revealed this at a recent meeting between the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Ministry of Power and concerned stakeholders in the industry. Read more here.
