The current selection process is historic as for the first time, it appears a non U.S. candidate may actually have a decent shot at cliching the post. Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has quickly become a favourite among emerging economies especially with one of her contenders, Jose Antonio Ocampo recently backed out to fully support her candidacy. She is now in a tough race against U.S. backed candidate Dr. Jim Kim.

Okonjo Iweala who will be appearing on Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN this weekend recently had this to say about her candidacy:

“I have tremendous respect for Dr. Jim Kim, the pick of the United States. But the argument is not really about nationality. The development committee of the World Bank, as well as the G20, have signed onto a merit-based, open and transparent process for selecting the president of the World Bank. That means that it should be done based on who is best qualified from anywhere, regardless of nationality. So I think that we took that seriously. The leaders of the continent of Africa, who asked me to be a nominee, took this seriously.”

If u are talking about competence, experience, shrewdness and objectivity, then you need not to talk about any unnecessary waste of time for the selection of world bank president. Just handle the grobal financial institution to the best – my compatriot(mrs Ngozi). The world should go against any attempt to jaxtapose a weak object that will only be controlled by the king makers against the general will of the global economy. We are living in a scientific world where objectivity is the measure. Lets debunk the idea of who is who and face the reality of life by giving honour to the most honourable. I wish the best will emmerge because, it is the hope, that can push d declining global economy to recovery and equilibrium. I wish the selection will be scientific. Thanks!
