The 2012 African Business of the Year Award goes to Nigerian company, Innoson Group
1Innoson Group clinched the 2012 African business of the year award in London on Friday.
The group which is into vehicle manufacturing in Nigeria received the award; an initiative of the African Business Magazine and the Commonwealth Business Council, in recognition of its success in Nigeria and Africa.
The award was given to Group because of its ability to overcome tough challenges in hostile business terrains such as Nigeria’s and its business leadership skills. The recommendation was made by both the Commonwealth Business Council and African Business Magazine while Nigeria’s Bank of Industry made the nomination for the award.
The panel was formed six business experts whose names are Amadou Ba, Sir Samuel Jonah, Tim Turner, Runa Alam, Barbara James and Jean-Louis Ekra.
Chairman of the Group, Innocent Chukwuma expressed his gratitude for the award and re-affirmed that the organization was committed to the business growth of Nigeria. “We have also keyed into the Federal Government’s agenda to develop vital sectors of the economy to make Nigeria one of the top economies by 2020,’’ he said.
Reacting to the move, Galib Virani of Afren International commended the recipient of the award and stated that the African continent was pleased to have such a high profile company.
