Olympics: Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare wins her 100m heat; qualifies for semi finals

That time is reported to be the second fastest of the round, just behind by about 10 seconds to America’s Carmelita Jeter’s 10.83 seconds.
Though Okagbare’s start was not as quick (she was one of the latter runners out of the block in the fourth heat), she quickly caught up, eventually winning the heat.
She is really excited about her win.
“I’m really excited about this, with the way I ran and a personal best already,” she said.
Twenty four runners qualified to the semi finals. All eyes in Africa are on Okagbare. We wish her the best of luck!
