Power lifter, Ivory Nwokorie on Friday won a gold medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games in London in the Women’s 44kg. 33 year old Nwokorie hauled 109kg to win the top spot.
Nwokorie beat Cigdem Dede of Turkey and Lidiia Soloviova of Ukraine.
Her gold medal comes after Yakubu Adesokan’s stunning win at the Paralympics a few days ago where he broke world records and lifted almost four times his body weight.
Though Nigeria did not win any medal at the just concluded Olympic Games, her paralympic team has been showing strong performances across various sporting events. The country in addition to its gold medals, won two silver medals in the Men’s 52kg and the Men’s 56kg respectively.
