We had earlier reported about the launch of Startup World, a global competition to find the world’s most innovative startups. Startup World is set to launch in Nairobi and Capetown. Powered by our friends at The Next Web, a leading international technology news blog in collaboration with I/O Ventures, Rackspace, Echo, Tropo, SeedCamp and Alcatel Lucent among others, the competition will be held in four African cities; Nairobi, Capetown, Kigali and Dar Es Salam.
According to Human IPO, “the first session will be held on September 5 in Cape Town, South Africa. Kenya’s capital Nairobi will hold the second session on September 7. While Kigali Rwanda and Dar es Salaam Tanzania will host the third and the fourth session on September 12 and 14 in that order.”

The competition promises $332,000 worth of prizes and includes 3 month incubation period worth $30,000 at I/O Ventures, International media coverage of the winning startup, 1 year of hosting worth up to $24,000 sponsored by Rackspace among others.
Startup World Advisors include Paul Bragiel of I/O Ventures, Reshma Sohoni of Seedcamp and Lisandro Bril of Ax Ventures-Pymar Fund among others.
