South Africa currently has about 2.4 million Twitter users. This statistic was revealed by prominent World Wide Worx researcher, Arthur Goldstuck through his firm, Fuseware.
According to Fuseware, there are approximately 2.435 million South Africans on Twitter tweeting 15 million times every month.
In addition, online advertising on the microblogging service appears to be on the rise in the country with the average advertiser spending about $5000 on promoted tweets.
South Africa is one of Africa’s leading countries in social media adoption accounting for an estimated 5.3 million users on Facebook.
South Africa’s home grown social network, MXit is also massively popular among the nation’s youths with an estimated 9.35 million active users.
