King Sunny Ade Festival 2012 set to kick off October 1st
0The planning committee of KSA festival 2012 has finally released programmes of activities for the festival with his birthday show taking the lead and scheduled for October 1 at the Premier Hotel, Ibadan.
More than 10 prominent artistes from across the country are expected to storm the ancient city of Ibadan on Monday October 1, 2012 for King Sunny Ade in a show tagged ‘An evening with KSA.’ The show, which is slated for Premier Hotel Ibadan, will feature the likes of Kollington Ayinla, Abass Obesere, Saheed Osupa, Yinka Ayefele, Salawa Abeni, Femi Opalemo, Omo Olope, Jide Chord, Dele Abiodun, Atokowa gbowo nle, among others, to celebrate the birthday of King Sunny Ade, who turns 66 today.
Speaking about the various events lined up for this year’s edition of the festival, chairman of the committee for KSA festival 2012, Oloye Lekan Alabi, said, “We started work with prayers to Almighty God for success, good health, wisdom, courage and availability of resource. This was followed by media chats in Ibadan, Lagos and London last month. The London media chat was topped with a courtesy visit/mobilisation campaign to our respected High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency, Dr. Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, CFR, on Wednesday August 22, 2012. He received us warmly and promised to collaborate with the planning committee. We are also in contact with distinguished citizens and socially-responsible corporate bodies who share the qualities of KSA as a pious, humble, creative, durable artiste and who in return, continues to receive local and global acceptance on and off the stage.
Speaking about the secret behind his strong craftsmanship on stage in spite of his age, Otunba Sunday Adegeye (alias King Sunny Ade) replied that he has remained relevant with 50 years’ experience on stage because of the support he enjoys from his numerous fans scattered all over the world, which regularly prompts him to strive for the best.
