The Islamic Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) is hosting a parliamentarian workshop on “Promoting the enabling Environment for Harnessing the full Potential of Science, Technology and Innovation for Socail and Economic Transformation of the African Continent”, in Cairo, Egypt from October 16-19.
The workshop will be held in cooperation with the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Pan-African Parliament, the African Development Bank (AFDB), and the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).
The African parliamentarians, who will take part in this workshop, will discuss the challenges facing the African continent in the fields of science and technology and propose suitable mechanisms to meet them. They will also examine the questions of supporting and developing excellence centers, and understanding and responding to controversial issues, such as genetically-modified food, human cloning and climate change.
Dr Aicha Bamoune, programs specialists at the Science Directorate, will represent ISESCO in this workshop.
