MTN Afrinolly Master Class hosts Hollywood Insider Franklin Leonard (ex VP of Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment) this Friday

This Friday 23rd, November 2012 at 5pm, budding filmmakers from across Africa will have a chance to meet Franklin Leonard via Google+ hangout in the first of the Afrinolly Short Film Competition, Master Class series. Franklin Leonard, the former Vice President of Creative Affairs for Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, is the creator of the Black List, a yearly publication, highlighting Hollywood’s most popular unproduced screenplays. Of the 500 screenplays highlighted over the last six years in the Black List, over 120 have been made and distributed, earned $11 billion worldwide at the box office, and won 20 Academy Awards from over 80 nominations.

Franklin Leonard’s Black List, discovered scripts that went ahead to become Hollywood Hits, such as: Pursuit of Happiness, The Social Network, Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and Juno.

On Friday Franklin will be sharing insights into the elements that make screenplay/storylines great, the place of quality screenplay in the creation of short films and nuggets on how to capture your audience in 15 minutes or less. He would also be shedding light on why he created the Black List and what it has come to represent in Hollywood today.
