Osita Nebo is Nigeria’s new power minister
1Nigeria’s power ministry is indeed a strategic one in the country as many, particularly the citizenry agree that it is one sector that if revamped can leapfrog the country to economic prominence globally.
Following the dismissal of the country’s former power minister, Professor Barth Nnaji, the Government of Nigeria has appointed a new minister to replace him, Dr. Osita Nebo. Nebo was previously the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria.
Nebo in preparation for his role has given statements about how he intends to tackle the sector. The statements were made during his question and answer session with the Nigerian senate.
For instance, he is quoted to have told the nation’s law makers that he will “chase out the demons in the nation’s power sector.” He praised the outgoing power minister, Dr. Barth Nnaji saying that he was “professional to the core, and was committed and did his best for the power sector but unfortunately something happened.”
A formal inauguration of the new minister would be done on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council meeting.
