Today, three hundred thousand pupils from across 600 public schools in Lagos made history as they set a new World Record in tooth brushing. The previous simultaneous toothbrushing record of 177, 003 was set by India in 2007. The pupils set the Guinness World Record by brushing their teeth simultaneously for one minute across 326 locations in the state.
The convener of the Tooth Brushing Challenge Project, Dr. Lawal Bakare signalled the commencement of the challenge at 2.15pm Lagos time at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
The record is symbolic as it would drive home the importance of good dental hygiene to the 300,000 pupils who participated.
Sponsors of the event include Unilever Nigeria, Government of Lagos State and Vas2Net.
