(CIO East Africa ) – Organizers of PIVOT East, have announced a partnership with Tech Hubs across the region for 2014 startups competition.
The hubs include: Outbox (Uganda), Hive Colab (Uganda), Kinu (Tanzania), Buni (Tanzania), kLab (Rwanda), iceaddis (Ethiopia), iBiz Africa (Kenya) and C4DLab (Kenya).
The partnership with the tech hubs will go a long way in ensuring that the best entrepreneurs and developers in different countries in the region take part in the PIVOT East 2014 competition. They will play a key role in mobilizing and supporting entrepreneurs and developers in the competition throughout the whole process.
The new partnership is built on the successful role and contribution of OutBox hub in the 2013 edition of the finalists pitching conference which was held in Kampala – Uganda. PIVOT East activities in 2014, will culminate in a finalists conference in Nairobi – Kenya on 24th and 25th June where the top 25 startups will pitch to a rich audience of investors and industry players.
According to Markos Lemma from iceaddis hub Ethiopia “Iceaddis, Ethiopian technology innovation hub and a home for Ethiopian entrepreneurs and techies is glad to participate in PIVOT East 2014. This is a unique opportunity for our community and beyond to participate for the first time from Ethiopia. We hope that PIVOT East 2014 will help publicize Ethiopian developers to the East African community”
PIVOT East is East Africa’s premier mobile startups pitching competition and conference organised by mlab East Africa annually since 2011. The goal of PIVOT East is to catalyse, identifying, nurturing and helping to build sustainable enterprises in the knowledge economy growth of mobile start-ups, with an aim to amplify and consolidate the gains of East Africa’s Mobile developer and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The key objective for this year’s event is “to facilitate discovery of the next wave of high potential mobile startups in the region”.
“Pivot East provides the best consistent and inclusive platform for startup engagement within the East African region. The opportunities it presents can be experienced by each and every participant, enabling everyone to benefit in one way or another.” this is according to Richard Zulu, Program manager Outbox Hub Uganda.
PIVOT East has officially opened the call for applications for 2014. Entries to the competition are to be submitted through the startups information platform on startups.pivoteast.com.
The deadline for submission of applications is on 11th April 2014.
