She Leads Africa in partnership with Huawei is providing female tech entrepreneurs from across Africa the opportunity to visit China, the technology giant and receive a first-hand experience.
Eligible applicants must be women between the ages of 18-40 who are building a technology business focused on Africa with brilliant start up ideas and a vibrant business model that can entice investors..
Fellows will also be able to network with peer entrepreneurs and develop relationships with investors and companies interested in doing business in Africa. The trip will take place from August 2nd – 7th with entrepreneurs visiting Shenzen as well as Shanghai.
She Leads Africa was launched in May 2014 with a pitch contest for female-led high growth start-ups on the continent and diaspora.
Sponsors and supporters included international and pan-African businesses including GT Bank, Huawei, Etisalat, and Forbes Woman Africa. A leading venture capital firm has already committed to investing $25,000 in an entrepreneur from the She Leads Africa community.
With plans to become the 500 Startups of Africa, She Leads Africa aims to become a staple of the African investment community with VC funds already seeking access to their database of female entrepreneurs and plans underway to hold networking events for African female entrepreneurs in major global cities, create a mentorship platform, and raise an investment fund.
