Telecommunication network, MTN Nigeria has launched a new campaign, tagged – ‘APPtitude’, which will allows free downloads of Nigerian apps for a period of one month.
According to MTN, the aim of the campaign, which will run from May 1 to 30, 2015, is to educate customers on the value derived from making use of mobile applications in their everyday business.
According to Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, Bayo Adekanmbi, many Nigeria-centric websites are complex with hard-to-remember URLs, and the apps will provide a better and alternative way of engaging users, irrespective of social class, as their functionality is defined by the user’s ability to interact with icons and images.
A portal that can be accessed by MTN subscribers has been created. The portal curates a host of local apps in the market under different categories that includes sports, entertainment, lifestyle, health/fitness, religion and business. Subscribers can access this portal by sending APP to 131.
MTN has also promised to support app developers, associations and SMEs in converting their websites to mobile applications. Young app developers are encouraged to submit their apps on the APPtitude portal, as MTN is committed to promoting these apps by providing them with visibility and reach to its 61 million subscribers.
