According to a press release by company, the new appointment will take effect on June 1, 2015.
Ory Okolloh is a globally recognized Kenyan Activist, Lawyer and Blogger, with a long track record of working at the intersection of government affairs and technology.
In 2014, Okolloh was named to the TIME 100 Most Influential People list. She earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from Harvard Law School in 2005.
Okolloh currently serves as Director of Investments at Omidyar Network, a California-based philanthropic investment firm.
She has served as Google’s Policy Manager for Africa, Legal Consultant for NGOs and has held various positions with Covington and Burling, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and the World Bank.
