World’s leading technology site, TechCrunch will be coming to Lagos in July 2015 with its Meetup + Pitch-Off event that aims to find Nigerian early-stage start-ups for its Disrupt conference in San Francisco.
According to the local organiser of TechCrunch Meetup+Pitch-Off event in Lagos, Toks Ogun, the event will include a startup tour that will give TechCrunch delegates a feel of local startups in Nigeria and a pitch-off competition for startups.
Entrepreneurs will have 60 seconds to pitch their startups to panel of judges, including TechCrunch editors, local venture capitalists, and successful start-up entrepreneurs.
At the end of the pitch event, three startups will be shortlisted. First place will receive a table in Startup Alley at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco Conference, holding in September. Second place will receive two general admission tickets to Disrupt, and third place will receive one general admission ticket.
According to Ogun, the goal of the pitch event is to bring the community together, get to know amazing entrepreneurs in Nigeria, and get the word out about cool local startups.
