While Nigeria staggers towards change of leadership, her richest man is on fast pace to conquer more territory. Ethiopia is set to feel the golden Dangote touch as Dangote Cement Plc will be inaugurating its 2.5 million tonnes per annum cement plant in Ethiopia on Friday, June 5. Dangote Cement has plans to reach an annual capacity of 62 million tonnes by 2017 and are not resting on their oars.
The people of Ethiopia are reportedly excited about this investment as it is the biggest African-owned investment in Ethiopia. Located in Mugher District, the cement plant is the fifth offshore cement plant of the company to be rolled out in the last one year in Africa, coming after Senegal, Cameroon, South Africa and Zambia. The plant is estimated at about $480million.
Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr. Haile Desalegne, would perform the opening ceremony at an event expected be graced by top members of the Nigerian business community.
More African countries should expect a Dangote Cement Plc Plant as “The company is investing $5bn to build an African cement empire, with factories plants in 14 African countries,” According to an official statement from Dangote Plc.
