Uganda’s ICT Minister John Nasasira revealed the country’s ICT Ministry is establishing an innovation fund to assist young people’s foray into the ICT the sector. This was disclosed at the fifth edition of the Uganda Communications Commission’s (UCC) ACIA awards gala dinner held last week.
According to Nasasira, the ministry “has now developed a five-year ICT Sector Strategy and Investment Plan. The minister also commended the UCC for “encouraging a culture of creativity and analytical thinking among young people”. “Let us together strive to raise a generation of innovators and entrepreneurs rather than job seekers,” he added.
Uganda Vision 2040 has highlighted the Tech business as an industry that can enable job creation, facilitate economic growth and increase productivity. This big move by the government will not only be aiding Uganda Vision 2040 but also empowering the young tech enthusiasts of the East African nation.
