One of Nigeria’s leading music reality shows, Nigerian Idol Season 5 started airing on both terrestrial and satellite TV stations across the nation from Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Nigerian Idol franchise owners, Optima Media Group (OMG) with show sponsors, Etisalat, Payporte and Dabur Toothpaste got viewers glued to the screens while 31 contestants performed and sang out their hearts to be The Nigerian Idol.
Saturday, June 12, 2015, Season 5 of ‘The Nigerian Idol’ show came to an end with Kunle Ogunrombi ( K-Peace), beating Dolu to emerge the winner. Ogunrombi Olakunle Koya, known as K-peace first stunned the judges when he performed his Fuji Version of a John Legend Song; All of Me.
The grand finale which held at Dream Studio, Omole Phase 1, Lagos had the fuji loving K-Peace emerged as winner. He is said to have embraced the fuji genre and ready to create a new genre from its fusion with another genre and call it Fuji and B (FNB). “The acceptance from the studio audience and voting public has been massive and it has spurred me to create a new genre of music which I tag, Fuji&B (FNB). Considering the reception at the Nigerian Idols, it appears the world has accepted it, so I will keep at it” K-peace stated.
The graduate of Fine and Applied Arts from the Federal College of Education Akoka, Lagos did not think the journey was an easy one, considering there were other amazing talents on the show with him. “I am overwhelmed getting to this stage today because I faced tougher and amazing talents, especially Dolu. I thank the sponsors of this competition for giving me the opportunity to pursue my dream.”
Dolu, whose real name is Modoluwamu Ogunmoyero emerged second runner up and went home also N1.5million, a Galaxy Tab, a phone and an iPod .
