The 2015 edition of SHE Forum Africa, a conference that brings together women whose voices are disrupting traditional notions of gender and feminism, has been scheduled to take place on September 01, 2015 at the National Centre for Women Development, Abuja.
The conference aims to bring women together to identify persisting gender issues hindering the growth and stifling the productivity of women and girls in local communities; redefine & help articulate new and current gender priorities; cultivate a strengthened network of emerging voices for the effective representation of women and girls’ issues across decision-making platforms; inspire, mentor, and expose more women and girls to entrepreneurship.
This year’s theme “RISK THE UNUSUAL: MAKE IT HAPPEN” is set to trigger the awareness and understanding that every aspiring woman will have to adopt new and improved strategies of pursuing her personal development. It is targeted at bringing to the fore those persisting stereotypes that keep women within the bottom of the ladder.
According to organizers, “If there was ever a time when the wisdom and resilience of women was needed to address persisting development issues especially as they affect women in Africa, it is now.”
The conference will feature remarkable & engaging speakers and panelists, networking opportunity with phenomenal women and vibrant forum sessions that cover personal development & entrepreneurship, health & lifestyle, Democracy, Leadership & Governance.
Panelists will include Adesuwa Onyenokwe, publisher of Today’s Woman Magazine; Sharon Ikeazor, founder of the Legal Aid for the Poor Scheme; Lola Adele-Oso, co-founder of Act4Accountability and Jennifer K. Lynne, founder of thecontactproject. There will also be an all-male HeForShe panel, which will have 5 male panelists from various industries.
SHE Forum Africa is organised by Friendraiser Community, an initiative of Premium Logic, committed to driving and promoting opportunities that enable integrated capacity development for women.
