I heard someone say that assumption is the lowest form of knowledge.
It is amazing how many entrepreneurs and start-ups have been victims of assumption. They launch a product with the assumption that it will be readily and widely acceptable. They spend money and resources in putting up their idea without many successes. Before you launch out or do anything as an entrepreneur, the first thing you need is an accurate knowledge of what you do, your product, your clients etc.
Don’t live your life base on assumption. When you find yourself using the words ‘i think or i thought’, you had better stop and check yourself before you crash yourself. Those words are signs that you’re are assuming.
For instance, you say ‘i think this is what she said (your customer) or I think this is the way we should go (direction)’. The problem with assumption is the fact that you may be right or it may be a disaster. You’re never sure. And going in this path means your company or start-up will never have an operational process or SOP.
You don’t assume for your client. You should know what they want. You shouldn’t assume with your product, you should know what the market want. You shouldn’t assume with your idea, you should have an accurate knowledge of what your proposed investors want.
“Getting practical or accurate knowledge is so essential that you just have to get it right. If money is your hope for independence you will never have it. The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability” – Henry Ford
Getting accurate knowledge is getting the right, relevant and useful information of what you do as an entrepreneur. Knowledge is power. And knowledge empowers.
Now, do not neglect the place of imagination and do not neglect the place of assumption. But when all these comes, ask yourself; “what is the reality?” Once you know the reality, you can now set a sail to becoming the greatness you always wanted.
Why do many entrepreneurs get locked up for tax evasion? Do they even know the difference between tax evasion and avoidance? Tax is just one of the many things that most entrepreneurs failed to gt accurate knowledge in. They just assume.
Go out of your way to get an accurate knowledge of your industry and some more. Always remember, what you don’t know is bigger than you.
