Everyone who ventures into the music industry plans to become a celebrity one day. The struggle to rise from the lowest level to the pinnacle in the entertainment industry is what every up and coming music artiste battles with. CPAfrica reached out to public relations (PR) officers, Producers, Hype men, celebrities, artistes and other stakeholders, and asked them this question. They gave a few tips to solve the problem of how to climb the ladder of success as a Nigerian artiste.
We caught up with the CEO of 234Vibes.com, who opined that there are basically two ways about it: Make good music and promote it!
The CEO of Arisado Events had this to say, “The reason why so many upcoming artistes will never be stars in music is because they entered it with the mindset that they want to make money and not that they were called or have passion for it.”
“Never stop developing yourself till the right day”, “If you want to be a star, He should have passion for music, have a role model and someone that has gone ahead of him to mentor him and lead him aright”.
A member of the YBNL family popularly known as Mr Cayana had this to say, “By being creative, doing something no one has done before”.
We also had input from the CEO of OlofofoBells.com who emphasized the need for aggressive promotion.
A music producer, Chrome Sounds, had this to say, “The artiste needs a good song and a niche – not necessarily good lyrically but the product has to be very good and finally online presence and a good PR”.
Celebrity PR, ThePamilerin who is the PR for Adekule Gold, advised upcoming artistes to have the right music and very good PR!
Another Celebrity Blogger, OlofofoUnited advised artistes who intends to blow to have a good song, good promo, online promotion and most especially street and radio promotion of their songs.
