Earlier, we reported the announcement of proceedings for the Africa International Film Festival (AFFRIFF) to be held in Lagos, Nigeria from November 8 to November 15, 2015.
The organizers of the festival have just released the list of films to be screened during the festival with Nigerian films recording the highest number across all categories.
The Nigerian films on the featured category include; While You Slept by Desmond Elliot, Champagne by Emem Isong Misodi, Road To Yesterday by Ishaya Bako, Kpians! The Feast Of Souls – Stanlee Ohikhuare, 8 Bars & A Clef – Chioma Onyenwe, The Portrait – John Uche, Ekei – Akin Macauley amongst others.
The Nigerian film delegation would be well represented at the 5th edition of the festival with twelve out of thirty-six features among the movies in this category. The South African film industry also boasts of six films to be featured during the festival.
On the list of documentaries to be featured, Nigeria boasts of five films also with South Africa closely following with four documentaries. Senegal and Mali also having two documentaries to be featured each.
The list of short films to be featured when released showed that Nigeria has twenty-one out of fifty-eight leading the pack with the highest number of films in the category. The Student Short film category also showed Nigeria having seven out of a possible seventeen films to be screened during the festival.
In the animation category, it was a total domination as Nigeria had 11 out of 13 films for that category. The panorama category was a China dominated category.
According to the organizers as stated earlier, 180 films have been selected for the 2015 edition of AFRIFF, out of which 155 are in competition
