Earlier, we reported the EU-Africa Summit in Malta, where donations have been pouring in for the Africa aid, Poland have also declared that it will provide EUR 1 million to the European Trust Fund for Africa.
The fund aims to help in the stabilization and the tackling of the causes of illegal migration, said Rafał Sobczak, spokesperson for the Polish Foreign Minister.
The United Kingdom had earlier declared its intention to donate EUR 100 million over a course of five years for the aid.
A document was signed in the Maltese capital Valletta on Thursday appointing the European trust fund combating illegal migration of people from Africa.
The summit, dedicated to counteracting illegal migration, saw the participation of 63 countries from the EU and Africa.
Poland was represented by outgoing Deputy Foreign Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk.
“The fund was established as a response by the European Union to the current migration crisis,” Kacperczyk said.
