Starting from yesterday, Ethiopian airlines have commenced an historic week long of flights, from Addis Ababa to Bangkok, which will be fully operated and led by women. There will be an all female flight deck crew and members, and all ground flight preparations – such as cabin operations, airport operations, flight dispatcher, load controller, ramp operations, ticket offices, catering, air traffic controllers – will be taken care of by women.
The airline organization says, this special project is aimed at demonstrating it’s corporate conviction towards “Women Empowerment for a Sustainable Growth”.
Ethiopia as a country is known not give the women fold the opportunity to express themselves despite numbering 48.5 million which is half of the country’s total population.
Other projects are reportedly being carried out to encourage women participation in the Ethiopian society, some of which includes but not limited to, special credit for female entrepreneurs, which is run by the Women Entrepreneurship Development Project, also, a safe delivery application was introduced to Ethiopian women earlier this week by the Danish Government.
The empowerment of women in Ethiopia seems to be taking a rapid and growing dimension of late and it is very encouraged for the patriarchal country. Ethiopian airlines once again have taken the lead in this course.
