The Glo CAF Awards was held yesterday evening in the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja. The event which was held at the International Conference Centre Abuja and anchored by Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim and Supersports of South Africa presenter, Robert Marawa.
The 24th edition of the awards which was held in the city of Abuja for the first time in many years was characterized with glitz and glamour.
In a night of surprises, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was voted as the CAF footballer of the year for the 2015 year ending. Aubemayang who plies his trade with Borrusia Dortmund, in Germany, is the leading scorer in the German Bundesliga with 18 goals is on his top form this season. He did beat the Manchester City footballer, Yaya Toure to the coveted award which Yaya Toure had won consecutively for four years and Andre Ayew of Ghana to second and third places respectively.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also scored a goal in the Orange AFCON 2015 where his team, the Gabonese National team exited the tournament in the group stages.
The night also saw popular Nigeria sensation, Victor Osimhen pick up the youth player of the year award, the award which was previously won by the dazzling Kelechi Ihenacho who is growing across leaps and bounds in Manchester City.
