Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, who is a graduate of Curriculum Studies from Wits University graduate was crowned Miss South Africa over the weekend.
The 23-year-old Miss Ntando hails from Mpumalanga in South Africa had previously won Miss Mpumalanga in 2013.
According to her, “As a little girl growing up in the township – modelling around the house and practicing my speech in front of the mirror – I had always hoped, prayed and believed that one day my name would be called as the new Miss South Africa.”
She is also reported to be passionate about education and helping the youth. She has been visiting a shelter in Berea called Intombi, with friends, since 2014 to be a mentor, sister and friend to girls who are there.
After her victory at the beauty pageant, she posted two different messages on Facebook which read thus:
“Everything under the sky has a time, seasons and is the will of God. Going in today, whatever happens I am content knowing that God’s will will prevail 🙏🏽iNtandoyenkosi izokwenzeka 🙏🏽 #MissSA2016 #MissSANtando”

The beauty pageant featured 12 finalists who slugged it out for the ultimate prize. Elizabeth Molapo and Tayla Skye Robinson won the second and third places respectively.
