(CP-Africa) – Craft Silicon has been announced as the winner of the 2010 Legatum Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship. The Gala was held in Nairobi, Kenya on December 6th,2010. Craft Silicon was awarded the winning prize of $100,000 and five other winners went home with $50,000 each.
According to the organizers of the Legatum Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, “winning companies demonstrated visionary leadership, innovation, strong growth and a company culture that adheres to its core values. The winning companies also have made an impact within their communities, either by fostering job creation, improved community living standards or by expanding into overseas markets.”
Craft Silicon Limited is a mobile software provider that provides online mobile transaction applications that enables bill payments/transactions. In addition, the company’s premium application, BREFT switches ATM and POS transactions, linking into multi-service providers like MPESA and various core banking solutions.
More than 2,700 applications were received from all over the continent. Shortlisted businesses include Steel & Tube Industries Limited of Uganda, Biodeal Laboratories of Kenya and Beige Capital Limited of Ghana among others.
