Mustafa Hassanali, recently launched his new collection “KIPEPEO” during the 2010 Angola Fashion Week. Kipepeo is a Kiswahili word that means Butterfly. It is also synonymous to a hand fan, used by women during warm weather.
On what inspired him, he said: “The magical hues of the butterfly wings have inspired this collection aptly named Kipepeo- a vibrant, vivacious, vain and vulnerable beauty who undergoes metamorphosis to be most visibly aesthetic insect in an environment.”
Earlier in July 30th 2010, Mustafa also unveiled “Karafuu” Collection, inspired by the Cloves of Zanzibar. “The multipurpose use of this Majestical spice is embodied in the fluid silhouette embodied in this black and gold collection.” The collection was launched at FASHION 4 HEALTH gala event in Zanzibar in aid of Zanzibar mental Hospital, a project Mustafa Hassanali has been supporting since 2008.
Genevieve Mpangala who was crowned as Miss Tanzanian 2010 in September was adorned by Mustapha’s design. She wore a red silk crystal embellished gown, which projected her beauty and gave her a winning edge over other contestants.
