Oh God our heavenly father, we thank you for granting Nigeria a violence-free inauguration ceremony on Democracy Day. Though for the most part, phone communication was turned off, we take it in our stride that this was a necessary sacrifice to be made for our young democracy, lest some disgruntled elements allow the devil to use them as weapons of mass destruction against innocent Nigerians.
Dear Lord, though we are very pleased with the peaceful conduct of the just concluded ceremony, despite the fact that it reportedly cost a whooping N1 billion, (however in the interest of progress, we would respectfully forget that this occurred), we would like to at this juncture table some requests which we hope you can help pass on to our newly elected President.
Father Lord, please we need electricity. We have been tabling this request for many years now. Please, is there a way you can let our President know how important solving this problem is to us? The success of our businesses is significantly curtailed by this heavy yoke. If this problem is solved, our private sector will soar to unimaginable heights. Please, let Mr President know that we are not ready for hanky panky in this particular area. Past Presidents have promised and failed to deliver. We hope he too will not promise and fail…
