2go.im is a social networking mobile app that gained popularity in Nigeria this past year. The app is particularly popular among Nigerian students looking for cheap, non SMS based means of chatting with their friends for free. 2go allows users meet and interact with people within their location and seems poised to continue to grow in popularity in 2012.
Blackberry Messenger needs no introduction. The instant messenger application for Research in Motion’s Blackberry suite of phones has been a favorite among Nigeria’s urban elite even spurring the creation of a popular Nollywood movie, Blackberry Babes. Of the two mobile applications, (2go.im and Blackberry Messenger) which was Nigeria’s best IM messaging app of 2011?
