“Wise,” South Africa’s first locally developed tablet is a budget friendly suite of tablets aimed at helping South Africans with their communications and educational needs. With three tablets in its stable, (two 7 inch models (WiFi and WiFi & 3G) and a 9 inch model (3G & WiFi), Wise is targeted at the mass market, hoping to be patronized by consumers who may not be able to afford high end tablets like the iPad.
The tablets run on Android 2.3, is multi touch and has a 800×480-pixel display. It includes 4GB of flash memory which can be expanded to about 32GB by a microSD slot provisioning. The tablet includes a slew of locally relevant applications and includes the Wise Educational Center offering a small selection of educational videos among others.
