Traffic Butter is a mobile App designed to provide traffic solutions for road users who are often faced with traffic log jams, a constant feature of major cities. The App uses internal reporting and crowd sourcing bases to give traffic information and updates. Asides this, the App also provides road use enlightenment campaigns,road accidents, hazards and security alerts as well as missing persons and stolen vehichle information.
The event was well attended by different participants. Media representatives from Vanguard,Newswatch, NAAN amongst others were also on hand to cover the event.
The App is available on the Android, IOS and Blackberry platforms.
The Traffic Butter mobile app official launch party was held at the Capital Square Office, Garnet Building, Lekki, Lagos. The event was hosted by Capital Square and the Covenant University Alumni Association.
The founder, Uche Okafor and his brother, Charles Okafor walked the audience through the many interesting features of the app which included real timetraffic updates, geolocation finder, user specific routes, chat platforms and even a user reward systems!
The app has since inception gained both local and foreign acclaim and was recently nominated for the Mobile West Africa App Developer Competition.
According to the Founder, he got the inspiration from having to commute in the formidable Lagos traffic and wanting to provide a solution to the problem.
The name Traffic Butter was used as a converse to traffic jam, a favorite term used to describe traffic gridlocks.
The app currently have over 63,000 users and the founders intend to expand their services to other major cities in the nearest future.
