The Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2015 is almost here! The event is scheduled to hold on 23rd & 24th of May 2015, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
AFWN2015’s theme is: Showcasing our Cultural Heritage through Fashion. In honour of this theme, the event will feature a photo competiton for fashion lovers, tagged: Evolution of Iro and Buba.
Oreka Godis has also been announced as the Fashion Brand Ambassador of AFWN2015, whose role will be to help with the synergy of the project and identify undiscovered talent.
According to organisers of AFWN, “This year, we are also introducing the Education in Fashion Segment, as most young designers don’t realize that there are so many different aspects to the fashion industry aside from the runway, red carpet or who wore it best”.
The event will feature a fashion seminar, which will be delivered by a Top Global Fashion Management Company that focuses on Brand Management and Retail Management and shares over 20 years’ experience working in Europe and the USA.
AFWN is a platform for African fashion designers to be appreciated and celebrated, with the core aim of providing visibility platforms for new talents who would otherwise not have the means to gather national attention and awareness of their own. The platform also helps to launch the careers of the best emerging fashion designers in Nigeria.
The event, which debuted in May 2014, showcasing more than 30 young & upcoming designers to a global audience as well as veteran designers, is produced by Sola Oyebade of Mahogany productions.
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria was founded by Ms Ronke Ademiluyi, who is also the founder of Africa Fashion Week London, the biggest fashion festival in the UK & Europe for African inspired fashion and owners of the first African concession store inside the plaza on Oxford Street, London.
