A new amusement park has been built in Kumasi, the second city in Ghana in rank of popularity. The park is an initiative of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), and named after Captain Robert Rattray, a Scottish who was the Assistant Colonial Secretary in the Gold Coast and clerk to the Legislative Assembly of Accra in 1919.
The multi-purpose recreational centre is in the Ashanti Regional Capital and was inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama.
The park is said to be the biggest and most beautiful in West Africa. It has some fascinating appeal which includes a huge fountain, mini fountains, an artificial lake, restaurants, bars and a children play centres. The water body and lake is said to light up at dusk giving a beautiful sight.
A solely funded project of The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA), it is a 42,000 square-meter park, that boasts of a wi-fi internet connectivity, golf cart, an open robust gym, children’s playground, six square-meter multimedia fountain, and a cafeteria.
Rattray Park, Kumasi City is opened daily from 8:30am to 11:00pm daily including national holidays.
