MTN Group has announced its partnership with South Africa’s Rhodes University, to sponsor the 2015 Highway Africa Conference.
The 2015 Highway Africa conference, set to hold between August 30th and 31st in Grahamstown will bring together media stakeholders, including journalists and media development agencies from across the continent in conversation on various topics under the theme “Journalism and the City.”
The 2-day event will explore the relationship of journalism and place, specifically the dialectical relationship between the media narratives and the city.
“African journalists hold the responsibility of driving our continent’s narrative. As a proudly African company, we recognize the significance of Highway Africa in bringing together these journalists, to engage about issues facing our continent and shaping that narrative”, said Chris Maroleng, MTN Group Executive for Corporate Affairs.
The Highway Africa Conference is the largest annual gathering of African journalists in the world.
