A Scotland-based philanthropist Bill Gillespie, donated medical items to the Mandinary Clinic in the Kombo North costal settlement of West Coast Region (Ganbia). The medical items worth more than D100, 000 was shipped with the help of the Association of Mandinary Youths in the United Kingdom.
Some of the items donated include 4 sterilizers, 6 electrical beds, 6 oxygen pipe, 5 chlorine and 5 medical vacuums.
The officer in charge of the Clinic, Hawa Sallah Manneh while speaking at the presentation expressed delight at the gesture, noting that the items will take them a long way in enhancing their day-to-day operations. According to her, the gesture will further boost the quality healthcare for the people of Mandinary and the nine surrounding villages, adding that it would strengthen their relationship with the Banjulinding Hospital were all deliveries are transferred.
She also highlighted the gesture as not being the first of its kind by Mr Bill Gillespie and with the items gifted to the community, no woman will deliver outside the village, adding further that the local residents of Mandinary are very helpful to the welfare of the Clinic.
The Imam of the village, Fah Ceesay hailed the donor and the Youths bases in the United Kingdom who are natives of the village.
